Tell us about Henry: Every now and again, the stars align and the universe gets it right. In 2013, I was having a moment — one might call it a mid life crisis — if you will — and on a whim, I walked into an animal shelter. I had never owned a dog. I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t know what I was looking for. Then I saw him. This tiny dog, shivering and curled up in his cage. A volunteer took him out and put him on the floor. He took a few steps and then sat on my lap, like he had already decided for both of us. Despite that instant connection, I told myself I’d wait a week. If he was still there, then it was meant to be.
He was still there.
And it was meant to be.
