Message to Gwenie: My dearest Gwenie ~ The love we have for you is immeasurable. Thank you for the many years of love and happiness and joy that you brought our family. The house is just not the same with you not in it. There is an emptiness now that you're gone. It almost feels like the joy has been sucked out of our home. Gunnar misses you too. He lays in your bed and sighs. I hope that Grammy and Duffy and Kiki and Buster were there to greet you when you entered heaven. They will be sure to keep you company while you wait for us to join you. You were the best doggie a family could ever have. You will be missed by all who knew you. Run free my sweet baby girl. Enjoy heaven with no more pain, no more needles, no more sickness and in no time at all, we will see you again. We all love you so very much baby girl.

Tell us about Gwenie: We got our Gwenie from a small pet shop in the town where we lived. I would go in there and torture myself looking at the puppies on a regular basis. Then one day we saw the cutest little Cairn Terrier. Every week we would go in there and she would still be there. Finally we made the decision to bring her home. It was the best decision that we ever made. My husband and I got her just a few months before we got married, right around my birthday. One of my favorite movies is Camelot and so I picked the name Guinevere for our little girl and would call her Gwenie for short. She had a lot of nicknames, but one of my favorites was Foo Foo. I would call her Little Gwenie Foo Foo (from the nursey rhyme "Little Bunny Foo Foo"). Or sometimes I would just call her Foo Foo for short. When we got Gwenie we already had a cat (Kiki). Kiki and Gwenie did not get along at first. Kiki would beat up on poor Gwenie until Gwenie realized she was bigger and would then chase Kiki. They grew to tolerate each other and on occasion we would catch them sitting together on the couch. After Kiki passed we adopted another dog, Gunnar. Gwenie and Gunnar were very much like siblings. They liked to steal each others toys and beds and even treats. Gwenie was a daddy's girl and she loved to lick his face where he had whiskers. That was the way that she would tell him that she wanted to go out. She would wake him up that way and she would climb up in his lap at night to let him know she was ready to go out and she wouldn't stop until he got up. Gwenie loved to go for car rides and stick her head out the window and let her beard blow in the wind. She also loved to lay in the sun out in the backyard and roll around in the grass. She had a very loving and nurturing soul. We had a nest of bunnies in our yard a couple of times. Each time she would lay down near the nest and watch over them, never disturbing them. In 2022 Gwenie was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. We changed her diet and with her meds we were able to bring her back down to stage 2 where she stayed for a while. She would have been 17 in just six more months but her little body decided it was tired and that it was time. She gave us a life filled with so much love and joy and happiness and we are forever grateful for our time with her. She will be forever missed and always in our hearts.
