Casper

Name: Casper

Date of Passing: 11/14/2025

Message to Casper: You will never be forgotten, sweet girl. You charmed everyone you ever met. Thank you for 6 wonderful years being the prettiest and the smartest and for letting me take care of you. I wish we'd had more time but I hope you're catching lots of mice in heaven. Please live up to your namesake and stop by to haunt me sometime, my friendly little ghost

Tell us about Casper: Casper (aka "Cappo," "Scraps," "Scrappo," "Cappellini," or just "pretty girl") was found by some nice strangers in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago in the fall during a big rainstorm. I adopted her from Hyde Park Cats in October 2019, and she got to come live with me in my little studio apartment. While I navigated the post-college and covid years, lived in 4 different apartments and neighborhoods around the city, moved in with my fiance, and just generally experienced all the ups and downs life had to offer, Casper was always there.

Casper was a very beautiful cat and loved to be admired (from a distance). She always kept her soft coat fastidiously clean and gorgeous. She loved being scratched right on the top of her head, but would not let you pet her without an inspection first. Her pastimes included napping, jumping, and playing with her little brother. She was also very smart and could do tricks like high-fives on command. Casper loved to play with laser pointers and had an inexplicable hunger for chocolate cake (which she did finally get to try at the end of her life). Her favorite game was to bring catnip mice and/or smelly socks to us as gifts, in return for endless praise and being told that she was a very good and pretty hunter.

Her family misses her so much.
