Message to Nutmeg: Sweet Nutmeg,

I barely got to know you. What I do know is that you were a good soul who had had a very tough life. We were a perfect match from the day I saw you at the cat cafe. Your mom and I went in there to meet some other cats we were *certain* we were going to adopt but Ms. Kyra said we should meet you too. You were everything I knew I wanted in a cat. Sweet, loving, cuddly and soft. The cafe was closed and we had to leave -- I could tell we were about to leave without you so I whispered in your ear, "if you're going to make your move, now's your chance..." and you DID! You actually did; you crawled right up on me and we were bonded from that second on.

Selfishly, I'm heartbroken that I only got 43 days with you -- but more importantly I feel even more heartbroken that you didn't get to live the good life you so desperately deserved for very long. But if my only purpose in your life was to give you a space where you could finally breathe and let go of the pain you were hiding, I'm okay with that too. Goodbye my little girl. I hope your running around pain free with your big sister now.
