Santino
Date of Passing: 07/09/2024
Message to Santino: Goodnight sweet prince, you are at peace and now and rejoined with Satine and Sophia over the rainbow bridge. You have been in our hearts since day 1 and will be there forever.
Tell us about Santino: Santino was the dog that no one wanted, we first saw this Italian Greyhound over 16 years ago at a pet store and when we asked to take him out and see him the staff told us "you don't want that dog, he's bad." We still took him to the enclosure to handle him and he kind of was bad, he growled and nipped and wasn't too friendly.
We thought that was the end of that but he somehow touched my wife's heart and she went to secretly visit him every day for over a month and then finally told me to give him one more chance and if he is "bad" we wouldn't get him. Well we went and I picked him up and he played me perfectly, he just laid in my arms all submissive and gave me the puppy eyes. Needless to say we got him, we didn't say anything but the staff offered him at a reduced price and we said we could only afford "X" amount and they replied, "will you take him today?"
So, he came home with us and for 16 years was the sweetest puppy to me and my 3 kids, but most of all to my wife, he saw her as her life saver and momma. He was no longer a "bad dog" he became a big, sweet baby and whenever anyone in the family was sick, he would lay at our feet wherever we were resting and would stay there until we got up.
He accompanied us on many car trips across the US and would just sleep in my wife's lap the whole trip. He was our third puppy and at one point we had 6 in the house, but Santino was the prince. I never saw such devotion as Santino showed to my wife, he really did think she was his mother and would protect her with his life. He has left a little hole in our hearts but he filled it with so much love.
