Message to Zuzu: I love you, Zu. Forever and always you will be my “Momma”.

Tell us about Zuzu: From the day we met, I was captivated by Zuzu’s green and yellow eyes, her big velvety ears, and her soft, silky coat. She had been picked up off the mean streets of Chicago by a very kind woman and brought to safety through Tree House. When we met, she was in foster care with a lovely family, healing from her spaying and learning what it meant to feel safe. Back then, she was called Suzanna. When I adopted her in November of 2013, just before the holidays, I shortened her name to Zuzu in honor of one of my favorite movies, It’s a Wonderful Life. Zuzu was loved by everyone who met her. She loved company and welcomed every visitor as if they had come just to see her. A very vocal girl and a true attention seeker, she had a bit of FOMO—she would come running the moment she heard voices, determined to be part of whatever was happening. I’ll miss her gentle meow greeting and the little trot she did as she rushed to the door every time I came home. My favorite memories will always be of her sitting beside me, reaching out with her paw to take my hand and guide it under her chin for scratches. She knew exactly what she wanted, and she wasn’t shy about asking for it. I’ll miss her closeness, her cuddles, and her constant companionship every single day. She wasn’t just my cat—she was my best friend. And the truth is, she saved me… not the other way around.
