Message to Loki: Our dearest puppy boy, Loki, was the snuggliest, sweetest, silliest dog anyone would ever get the pleasure to know — a real-live teddy bear. He lived to play ball and had impressive dexterity in his paws. When the zoomies struck, he'd fly like lightning through our home, filling every corner with laughter.
Loki came into our lives before children, before so much — back when it was just the two of us, newly in love and lucky enough to have him by our sides. He grew with our family, and in so many ways, he helped build it. Every walk with Loki was an invitation — a chance encounter with a neighbor that turned into a friendship, a conversation that turned into a lifelong bond. So many of our dearest friends today came into our lives simply because they stopped to say hello to our sweet boy.
Our children and our whole family loved him deeply, and the hole he leaves behind is as big as the joy he so effortlessly gave. He was more than a dog — he was our bridge, our buddy, our heart. We love you forever, Loki. Good boy.
Tell us about Loki: Loki got his name because when we brought him home as a tiny puppy, his eyebrows were so long they literally looked like the horns on Loki's helmet. My husband is a huge Marvel and DC fan, so the second he saw those little brows, the name was settled.
Little did we know that this little pup would live up to his name, because Loki was genuinely mischievous. As a puppy he was into everything — chewing rugs, getting into the garbage cans, stealing Stanley's food (his schnauzer brother), chewing window sills, and baseboards. He was such a silly, ridiculous puppy boy, and it was impossible to stay mad at him for long. He was so cute and sweet, forgiveness for his mischievous always came quickly. Loki's most favorite thing in the world was his ball. He had so many tennis balls and would play with them all day long. Dribbling them around the house, chewing on them, putting them on a pillow and then shaking the pillow only to launch the ball under a dress or something requiring help and attention from others in the house. He played ball everyday, in some way, for hours on end.
