Message to Fluffy: Thank you to Dr. Nicole and all of the staff at A Gentle Goodbye. It's never easy to say goodbye, but Dr. Nicole provided us with the opportunity to give our dear Fluffy the ultimate gift of a peaceful and loving goodbye.

No matter how many years we are given, it never feels like enough time.
Fluffy was a truly exceptional creature and a beloved member of our family. For so many years, he filled our home and our lives with his gentle presence, companionship, and sweet spirit. We feel incredibly fortunate to have loved him and to have been loved by him.
Nine years ago, Fluffy faced a diagnosis of fibrosarcoma. What followed was an extraordinary journey. He underwent a hemipelvectomy, which required the removal of one of his hind legs, and later completed a course of radiation treatment. His surgery was performed as part of a veterinary medical trial, meaning that through everything he endured, Fluffy made a meaningful contribution to veterinary science and to the animals - and humans - who might benefit from that knowledge in the future.
During his cancer journey, Fluffy received care at both the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. His sweet nature made him a favorite among many of the people who cared for him. At Wisconsin, he even participated in veterinary rounds, which, as far as our family is concerned, made him an honorary veterinarian.
But Fluffy's story was so much more than his illness. He beat cancer and went on to give us nine more wonderful years. He adapted to life on three legs with remarkable resilience and simply continued being Fluffy—our sweet, gentle little gentleman.
There was something special about him that people seemed to recognize immediately. Everyone who met Fluffy loved him. He had a gentle spirit and a quiet sweetness that made him impossible not to adore.
In the end, we are left wishing for what every family who loves an animal wishes for: just a little more time.
Fluffy, thank you for your companionship, for your courage, and for every bit of joy you brought into our lives. Thank you for the extraordinary nine additional years we were lucky enough to share with you.
Rest easy now, our little gentleman. You certainly earned your rest. You will always be loved, always be missed, and always be held near and dear to our hearts.
